Tuto Rossi studied law at the Universities of Zurich and Fribourg and in the research centres of the Free University of Berlin and of the Max Planck Institute for International and Economic Law in Hamburg.
After his law degree in 1981, Tuto Rossi was awarded a "summa-cum-laude" doctorate with a dissertation on "The First-Demand Bank Guarantee".
In 1990 his dissertation earned him the Gottlob Prize as best doctorate research work at the Law School of Fribourg University and the Prof. Walter Hug Prize recognizing it as Switzerland's best doctoral dissertation.

In 1982, Tuto Rossi worked as private commercial-law assistant to Prof. Pierre Tercier.
In 1983 he was lecturing on criminal law at the Law School of Fribourg University (Prof. Jean Gauthier).
From 1983 through 1998 Dr. Rossi was Prof. A. E. von Overbeck's assistant at the Department of Private International Law.

In 1985 he gained admission to the Bar and in 1989 he earned his licence to practice as a Notary.
In 1989 he became a partner in the law firm of Michela Delcò Petralli.

Dr. Tuto Rossi is equally familiar with Italian, French, English and German.

From 1992 to 2001, Dr. Tuto Rossi, Attorney at Law, was a member of the Board of Directors of Cantonal Bank of the Canton of Ticino, ultimately in the position of a Vice Chairman.

From 1993 to 2002, Dr. Tuto Rossi, Attorney at Law, was President of Piazza Blues (www.piazzablues.ch), an association that organizes the first annual European open air summer blues festival.

In 2000, Dr. Tuto Rossi, Attorney at Law, was guest lecturer at the Seminar for Swiss and International Construction Law in Fribourg.

From 2001 to 2003 Dr. Tuto Rossi, Attorney at Law, organized the Construction Law Conference of the Canton of Ticino.

He has been involved in many of the most important criminal-court trials as defender of persons charged with economic offenses. His specialties are banking law, criminal law in the area of economics, finance law, insider trading and contract law.
